So I’ve just realised that I haven’t posted on here since March :/ sorry guys!
Well as you can imagine my last few months at uni were incredibly busy, so that’s my excuse up until June. But since then, well I can only say that absolutely nothing happens at home so I have nothing to update you with ha.
Not entirely true though :P … Well, I came home for a few weeks first; it probably took me all that time just to unpack to be honest. I switched bedrooms so instead of living in the conservatory I now have a proper bedroom upstairs again :D although now that all of my uni stuff is officially home for good I am very short on space! I’ve even had to start selling my books on eBay, sad times indeed :(.
Then on the 20th July I traveled back down to Leicester (for possibly the last time :( ) ready for Graduation on Saturday 21st. Graduation was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Everyone had doubts about the venue being changed from De Montfort Hall to the Curve Theatre, but do you know what, I think it was excellent. Everyone was on a high all day and it was great to catch up with everyone one more time. Here’s the obligatory gown and hat pictures:
So that was graduation :) I then came back and had a weeks internship with Inpress Books where I helped update their contact details for various Independent Bookshops, I tweeted about books and made some Twitter author and publishers lists and I did a book review for Fflur Dafydd’s The White Trail which is a modern retelling of the medieval Welsh myth ‘Culhwch and Olwen’ from the Mabinogion.
Since then my life has pretty much slowed to a halt, other than job hunting not a lot has happened at all. In all honesty I expected to leave university and have a job hit me straight in the face but that hasn’t happened, I’m now beginning to worry quite a lot and I’m really reassessing my future and what it is I want to do. There aren’t many publishing houses this far North and so I’ve decided to focus more on the teaching side of things. I know I eventually want to do a TEFL course and teach abroad, at least for a little while, but I really need a job first so that I can get some savings behind me and probably some experience ha.
Next week I’m starting a volunteering position at the Grace Darling campus for the Northumberland Church of England Academy where I’ll be a Reading Mentor for some of the young kiddies in my aunts classroom. This will be great experience for when I start TEFL-ing although it doesn’t really help with the money situation :P I’m really looking forward to it though and I’ll just be so glad to be getting out of the house and doing something for a change.
That is pretty much all I’ve done since uni finished :( and now I know a few people who are about to go back and this makes me overwhelmingly jealous! Haha, oh well, I’m sure something will come up for me and I’ll just keep applying for jobs until I get one :) but for now I’m going to join a gym to make me feel better about myself.
I promise I won’t be away so long again :P so it’s a TTFN from me :)
